Take a bus or a cab?
I recommend you take a taxi rather than a bus because it's faster.

1. Let's get a taxi
A bus is cheaper but you need to go to Gotemba train station first.
It will take 20 minutes to go to Gotemba train station, then you will get another bus.
It will be a 70 minutes bus ride to Kawaguchi-ko lake train station and you will catch another bus that will take you to the Suicide forest.
Taxi is so much easier.
2. Taxi fare
Now you get a taxi at Gate 2.
Taxi driver will ask you that you want to use a toll road or not.
You have no choice, say "Yes"
If you take a toll road, it will be 25.5 mi, 43 mins and it will cost about ¥12,637.
No tall road, it will be 26.7 mi, 59 mins long (because of traffic jams in the weekends and holidays) and it will cost about ¥12,696.
When you have a communication problem with the driver, you should ask a security guards at gate 2 before you leave to go to the Suicide Forest.
